This illustration was commissioned by Wizards of the Coast for their Dungeons and Dragons - Monster Manual Book 4, which is out this month.

This creature is a small clockwork device.

I am usually given a description to illustrate but for this project they let the artists design the monsters and then wrote the text around them. We were just given a vague brief like evil plant or lizard creature. It was really cool to work like this. I created 9 monsters for this book. You can see more in my DA gallery or on my web site [link]

Heh, I collect those books like crazy! I'm glad to finally find one of the artists that helped in creating such wonderous illustrations!

Reminds me of the clockwork creatures in the Northern Lights series by Phillip Pullman...Good anyway...

I love the wings, and the structure of face, it's really great, seems like it's searching for something. Really good work, keep on.

You get commissions from Wizards of the Coast?!?! That's like one of my life's dreams! That's amazing!

Oh, and really cool creature. I play EQII, and clockworks are common-ish there.

This is probably a very bad comparison, but the face kinda looks like Diaboromon (or however you spell it) from the Digimon movie.

If that existed, I'd be scared to go outside because of it's stinger. *shivers*
