Vampires are great subjects for fantasy art and I enjoyed creating this graveyard scene. My idea for the composition was to have bats swirling round the figure as they fly in from the gothic spire in the background, and thereby also link the blood moon and the figure together.
It is perhaps hard for you to read the inscription on the tomb at the size I have saved the art for viewing here. It is taken from an actual grave stone that I saw in an old cemetery here in Leeds, UK where I live. It reads "In Loving Memory of Elizabeth. The beloved and loving wife of Alexander Smith. Who died suddenly May 27th 1884" . It was the "died suddenly" that was the inspiration to me. Perhaps this picture explains what happened to Elizabeth, indeed maybe she is now the vampire we see here?
